Prof Ann Blandford on “How to avoid mistakes in surgery”: a summary and commentary #horizon

Ann Blandford (Professor of Human–Computer Interaction at UCL and CHI+MED’s Principal Investigator) has blogged her thoughts on the recent BBC Horizon programme on How to avoid mistakes in surgery.

She highlights the importance of training, the value of simulation (eg flight simulators etc), checklists, handovers and the importance of flexible, resilient thinking that is essential in extreme situations.
