[mini post] On-air swear: John Inverdale’s #Errordiary-worthy slip of the tongue

There was a rather unfortunate Errordiary moment a couple of weeks ago when sports commentator John Inverdale managed to elide the phrases ‘rose coloured’ and ‘rose tinted’ into one rather unfortunate on-air profanity (language warning).

The resulting linguistic mishap is left as an exercise for the reader…

Errordiary is a collection of everyday errors and highlights the rather important fact that, despite our intentions and best efforts, we all make mistakes. Even more importantly, further training alone cannot reduce those errors to zero – this has particular relevance in the medical domain especially if the result of an error is blame instead of learning about how future errors might be prevented.
